Drawn to Dorset – The Calendar The Drawn to Dorset Calendar was inspired by our beautiful landscape and the photos I take when I am out walking, snapshots of nature in all its glory.
Along with the photo for each month is a little bit of interesting info about where the photograph was taken, apart from October, where I was inspired to write a little poem! I hope you like it, I haven’t written poetry since a child, but the beautiful autumn leaves at Blackdown above Portesham seemed to bring out a bit of a poet in me, well hopefully anyway !
I am so grateful to Sue Wormald, Shaun Lane, Liam Brook and Robin Spicer for contributing one of their wonderful photographs to this project and to Lord and Lady Sandwhich of Mapperton House for giving their permission to use Sue’s beautiful photograph taken on a visit there.
This calendar, as with the book, is a charity publication, and as such all profits will be donated to charities working with children, providing activities outside in nature.
I feel it is so important for children to be able to experience our natural world, to play in the woods, to run in the meadows, to dip their toes in the rivers, just as I was able to as a child. I hope in some small way the monies raised from sales of the calendar can give children that pleasure!

I am amazed and delighted the calendar raised a massive £450 for activities for children out in our natural world. The donation was made to Dorset Wildlife Trust who carry out these wonderful activities across Dorset .
